Rain changed to sleet and freezing rain late in the afternoon as a sharp cold front crossed the region. Temperatures plunged from the upper 50s during the early morning hours into the upper 20s by evening. The wintry precipitation lasted for a few hours, long enough to cause icy conditions. Numerous skidding accidents were reported.
