Spotters indicated that up to 4.5 inches of rain fell over southern portions of the county during a three hour period. Many roads were water covered. One stream overflowed its banks onto Route 302 in Van Lear. Route 1750 was water covered near the East Point community, and the Greer Branch Road was washed out in the Hagerhill area. A few mudslides were also reported in these areas. The flash flooding led to evacuations in the Hagerhill and East Point communities.
