The Ohio River crested around 4 feet above flood stage along the southwest Indiana shore. The crest at Newburgh was 42.4 feet on the 26th. Flood stage there is 38 feet. The crest was 39.7 feet at Mount Vernon, where flood stage is 35 feet. Slim Island near Mount Vernon was covered by water. At Newburgh, water completely inundated the land lying between the Ohio and Green Rivers and for several miles upstream of the confluence. Moderate flooding of agricultural bottomland occurred. Some roads near the river were affected.
