A thunderstorm produced wind gusts estimated near 100 MPH in Harrisburg. Hundreds of trees were uprooted or snapped. Some of the trees were up to 5 feet in diameter. Several utility poles were blown over or snapped. A few storage barns and garages were blown off their foundations. Weak structures such as small sheds were completely destroyed. Numerous power lines were down, knocking out power to an estimated 35,000 people. The damage path ranged from 3/4 to 1 mile wide, and between 4 and 5 miles long.
