Lightning-ignited wildfires became a fast-moving crown fire in the Depot Creek area, about eight miles east of Port St. Joe. Considerable smoke and ash closed US 98. 30 firefighters battled the blazes. After containment, approximately 1,300 acres were consumed. No homes were threatened.
