An intense mountain wave allowed for high winds to develop in the foothills of Boulder and Larimer Counties. A peak wind gust to 106 mph (92 kts) was registered 2.5 miles north of Estes Park. Peak gusts to 80 mph and 77 mph (70 kts and 67 kts respectively) were recorded at Red Feather Lakes and 3 miles east northeast of Nederland. Strong winds also knocked over the metal frame of a hanger under construction at the Jefferson County Airport.
