Moderate to strong southerly wind preceded a vigorous front late Saturday and Sunday. The front was located in the central Aleutians and central Bering late Saturday...extending in a long arc from northwest of Saint Matthew Island to Sand Point and southward early Monday. Two moderate lows developed along the front...one moving into the southcentral Bering as a 962mb center Sunday afternoon and the other from southwest of Nikolski Sunday afternoon into the northcentral Bering as a 964mb center early Monday. Prefrontal gusts reached 67 mph at Adak between 7 and 9am Sunday...diminishing rapidly with the frontal passage around noon. At Dutch Harbor, wind gusts hit 85 mph after 5 pm Sunday...diminishing rapidly with the frontal passage at 8pm Sunday. Prefrontal winds reached 63 mph...post frontal gusts reaching 67 mph...across the Pribilofs between 5pm Sunday and 5am Monday. Gusts reached 47 mph at Cold Bay between 9 and 11pm Sunday.
