as the parent center remained nearly stationary just south of the Komandorskiye Islands. with strong southeasterly winds preceding the front and strong westerly winds following the centers.

Another frontal low in the northwest Pacific deepened rapidly and moved northward across Amchitka very early Friday...as the parent center remained nearly stationary just south of the Komandorskiye Islands. Each low reached down into the 960-968 mb range...with strong southeasterly winds preceding the front and strong westerly winds following the centers. Gusts reached 62 mph across the western Aleutians in advance of the front...and to 67 mph on the back side of the western-most center as reported by Shemya. Winds across the Pribilofs gusted to 41 mph just prior to the front's crossing the Islands Friday afternoon.
