An intense, 964 mb low crossed northwestward through the Gulf of Alaska...making landfall along the Kenai Peninsula where it rapidly weakened Saturday. In advance of the low, easterly winds reached speeds of 52 mph as reported at Middleton Island. The low also brought heavy snows to areas adjacent to Prince William Sound.
