During the morning of August 21, winds gusting to 40 miles an hour downed trees and power lines at North Bennington, Dorset and Sandgate in Bennington County. The winds were a result of a strong low pressure system which was moving northeast along the Atlantic coast. Approximately 1,000 customers lost power.
