The James River continued to flood through most of July from Columbia to Ashton falling below flood stage at Ashton on the 29th. The James River began the month at 1 to 3 feet above flood stage and fell to around 2 feet above flood stage from Columbia to Stratford by the end of the month. Some farmland, pastureland, and some roads continued to be flooded by the river through July.
