Hurricane Erika strongest winds missed the U.S.V.I. but the outer rainbands caused gusty winds. Sustained winds of 25 mph from the west southwest were recorded at the St. Croix airport with gusts to 29 mph. Rainfall varied from 0.83 inches at Christiansted to 0.25 inches at the USDA meteorological station. Storm effects were mostly downed and broken power lines from wind gusts.
