Severe thunderstorms knocked down trees throughout the southeast half of Lehigh County including the city of Allentown. Within Allentown streets were blocked and power lines torn down north to U.S. Route 22. About 10,000 Metropolitan Edison customers lost power in Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton Counties, although most of the outages did occur in the latter two counties.
