The powerful low pressure system that dumped very heavy snow on northeast Pennsylvania also produced strong gusty winds during the day on the 1st. Across much of the Poconos, gusts of 50 to 60 mph were common in the late morning and midday hours. Numerous large trees were blown down in Wayne and Pike counties. Several road closures from felled trees and branches resulted. Also, thousands of customers remained without power most of the day.
