Severe thunderstorms developed in eastern Oklahoma during the afternoon and evening of July 15th. Strong thunderstorm winds damaged 1 building and 1 house and downed several trees and power poles 4 miles west of Okemah. Thunderstorm winds gusted to 61 miles an hour at 61st Street South and Yale Avenue in the city of Tulsa and to 60 miles an hour 2 miles southwest of Hitchita. Golfball size hail broke windshields on the west side of Claremore, and dime to quarter size hail fell at numerous other locations in eastern Oklahoma. The storms also produced very heavy rainfall which resulted in flash flooding in Tulsa and Rogers Counties. Street flooding occurred in the west part of the city of Tulsa near and south of downtown, with as much as 6 inches of water over the roadway at 21st Street South and Southwest Boulevard. Street flooding also occurred in Inola.
