Prolonged heavy rainfall across the area caused tributaries of the Muskingum River to rise to near or just over their banks. Such tributaries included: Killbuck Creek, Kokosing River, and the Tuscarawas River. The increased runoff pushed the Muskingum River at Coshocton above its 13 foot flood stage on the evening of the 1st. State Routes 60 and 715, along the Killbuck Creek and Kokosing River respectively, were closed due to high water by the morning of the 2nd. The Muskingum River at Coshocton rose to near 14.5 feet on the morning of the 4th. The water level did not recede below flood stage until the morning of June 8.
