Lightning struck near a site where amateur radio operators had assembled to participate in a nationwide activity called Field Day. A thunderstorm that developed nearby produced lightning that apparently struck very close to the site where towers, antennas, a tent, and several campers were set up. The lightning damaged a number of pieces of computer and radio equipment as well as a portable generator. Two people, one in contact with a metal table and one in contact with a metal chair sustained minor burns from the incident.
