The Cheat River on the Allegheny Plateau went out of its banks in response to heavy thunderstorm rains. The river crested at 15.8 feet, 2.8 feet above flood stage around 12 Noon EST. at Parsons. Further downstream, at Rowlesburg, the river crested at 18 feet, 2 feet above flood stage around 6 pm EST. A few homes in Parsons were flooded.
