As the storms moved through the Charles City area, they became very serious. Hail the size of soft balls pelted the city. One woman was injured as the was closing the window of her house. The hail stones broke the window cutting her. Her wounds required two stitches. There were other reports around town of hail stones breaking through roofs. Considerable damage was reported around town ranging from broken windshields to roof damage.
