A strong late-season cold front moved through northern Utah in the early evening hours. Winds were howling across Utah's northwest desert causing widespread reduced visibilities in blowing sand and salt. The Utah Highway Patrol at the Wendover Port of Entry witnessed as a wind gust lifted an 120 lb. traffic barrier nearly 50 yards. They estimated the winds to be in excess of 60 mph (52 kts).
