A cold front moved through northeast Utah this afternoon and evening stirring-up some strong westerly winds. The strongest wind gust in the Uinta Basin of 60 mph (52 kts) occurred at the Veranl Airport.

A cold front moved through northeast Utah this afternoon and evening stirring-up some strong westerly winds. The strongest wind gust in the Uinta Basin of 60 mph (52 kts) occurred at the Veranl Airport. Minor tree damage was reported there. About 3 miles west of Vernal in the town of Maesser, the gusty winds rapidly spread a fire through a lumberyard. Damage estimates for that blaze were at $100,000.
