A cold airmass that settled over North Texas early on the 5th was overriden by warm, moist air ahead of a strong upper level disturbance. Widespread rain and occasional sleet changed to snow west of a Montague to Weatherford to Eastland line during the morning. The snow continued over this area throughout the day with 3 to 6 inches reported by evening. Isolated snowfall amounts of up to ten inches occurred in Stephens and Young Counties. Sixty-year-old snowfall records were broken by this late season event.
