Severe thunderstorms developed during the late afternoon along a cold front as it moved into the south central portion of North Texas. A few of these severe storms became supercells producing hail to tennis ball size and several short-lived, weak tornadic circulations on the northern flank of the resultant "comma-head" echoes.
