An F1 tornado touched down about 6:30 p.m. EST in Southampton Township in Franklin County on the west side of Shippensburg. The storm moved east and northeast about 3 miles causing the most destruction across southeast sections of Shippensburg in Cumberland County. Along a path width of 1/4 mile, many trees were blown down or damaged and a number of homes had minor structural damage. One home had a roof blown off in the southeast section of town on Old Baltimore Road.
