An unusually strong low pressure in the Great Lakes region Friday morning, July 19, 1996 moved across northern New York and Vermont Friday evening and into northern Maine on Saturday, July 20, 1996.Strong winds moved across northern New York and Vermont the evening of July 19th and continued on July 20. A few wind reports included:--Plattsburgh, NY (Clinton County)....30 knots--Massena, NY (St. Lawrence County)...42 knots--Peru, NY (Clinton County)...........38 knotsIn Plattsburgh, NY (Clinton County) trees were blown down with power outages reported.In Peru, NY trees were snapped off by the strong winds between 0600 and 1000EST on July 20, 1996.
