What happened

An unusually intense low pressure system tracked across the northern Great Lakes to Quebec, Canada during July 19 and 20. The system generated strong northwest winds which downed trees and power lines over parts of eastern New York. At Glens Falls in Warren County, trees fell on several houses during the early evening hours of July 19. At Saratoga Springs in Saratoga County, a large willow tree was toppled by the wind in Congress Park on Saturday morning July 20. Power outages were most widespread in Greene County over the higher terrain.
