Flood in New Jersey, December 13 to 14, 1996
Heavy rain the night of the 13th associated with a low pressure system near Delaware and the saturated soil that preceded this low pressure system caused flooding along the Cooper River in Camden County. Flooding was aided by tidal flooding near the mouth of the Cooper River that slowed the flow of water downstream.

Heavy rain the night of the 13th associated with a low pressure system near Delaware and the saturated soil that preceded this low pressure system caused flooding along the Cooper River in Camden County. Flooding was aided by tidal flooding near the mouth of the Cooper River that slowed the flow of water downstream. The Cooper River at Haddonfield was above its 2.8 foot flood stage from 1045 p.m. EST on the 13th through 445 p.m. EST on the 14th. It crested at 3.14 feet at 545 a.m. EST on the 14th. This heavy rain was part of a larger and almost continuous period of rain that lasted for 48 hours from the evening of the 12th through the evening of the 14th. Storm totals included 4.28 inches in Pennsauken, 3.15 inches in Somerdale and 3.12 inches in Cherry Hill.
