An intense low pressure system produced high winds behind a strong cold front. Throughout New Hampshire, falling trees and power outages were common. One person was injured in Kittery when a tree limb fell on his head, fracturing his skull. On Mt. Washington, the 24-h average wind speed was 99.6 mph with a gust to 154 mph, making it the windiest summer day (May - September) ever recorded. Between 2 and 5 pm EDT, the wind averaged 120 mph. The summit also reported a trace of snow.
