The remnants of Hurricane Fran continued to spawn high winds, ranging from 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph, across much of Maryland west of the Chesapeake Bay. The combination of strong winds and saturated soil knocked down numerous trees across the area, most concentrated at the highest elevations. Power was knocked out to thousands of customers in the state, including many in the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area.
