High winds swept across the northeast third of Iowa during the early morning hours. The winds were the result of a decaying mesoscale convective complex. Winds as high as 78 MPH were reported south of Mason City. There were numerous reports of winds near 65 MPH. Damage was, however, scattered and quite light. Some of the more significant damage was in Popejoy, 2 miles south of Bristow, and 17 southwest of Mason City where numerous trees were downed.
