Once again, the air mass over Iowa was very unstable. CAPE values were between 2500 and 3000 J/kg, lifted indices were between -6 and -10 degrees C, and an upper level trough of low pressure was over the state. Thunderstorms developed during the afternoon hours. Wind profiles were weak however. No severe weather occurred, however there were several reports of funnel clouds forming at the collision points of outflow boundaries. None of them became torndoes.
