What happened

The episode as NWS GJT wrote it up.

Strong winds under an upper level jet stream were enhanced perhaps by showers to produce damaging gusts. A 3000 square foot section of a metal roof on Ridgeway High School was blown off, damaging a gas line as well as ceiling tiles below the roof. Structural engineers determined that it would have taken winds of 80 to 90 mph to have peeled off the roof.
