A severe thunderstorm knocked down power lines and scores of trees in the Kearneysville area along Leetown Road. An aluminum flag pole was reported bent at a 90-degree angle. Scattered power outages occurred over the remainder of Jefferson County. A house in Leetown caught fire when lightning struck the television antenna on the porch roof. About $50,000 damage occurred to the house.
