Widespread tree damage in the central and northern portions of the county. A metal shed was crushed and blown into the road. A barn north of Luray was destroyed by winds killing two cattle and heavily damaging farm vehicles and equipment. Property damage at the farm was estimated to be around $200 thousand.

One tree caused roof and structural damage to an apartment building. Limbs broke out windows. Wrought-iron fencing was damaged. A tree fell on a car. Power was out in many areas affecting several thousand customers. Some in the Apple Pie Ridge area were without power overnight. Winchester airport clocked a gust of 60 mph.

Thunderstorms in southwest and south-central Virginia during the afternoon hours on the 6th produced hail up to quarter-size, damaging lightning and winds and flash flooding. Thunderstorm winds downed trees two miles north of Troutville, two and one-half miles west of Thaxton, 13 miles west-southwest of Halifax, one mile north of Halifax, two miles north of South Boston, three miles east-southeast of Axton, five miles northeast of Saxe, in Naruna, Fincastle, Evington, Brookneal, Gladys, Chatham, Concord and Saxe, downed trees and power lines three and one-half miles east-northeast of Ridgeway and in Hurt and broke off tree limbs and damaged the roof of a business in Pulaski. Hail up to nickel-size and strong wind gusts broke out or cracked a few windows in buildings and vehicles in Pulaski. Heavy rain flooded several streets in Pulaski and flooded several roads and closed a bridge from five miles north-northeast of Pamplin to Pamplin. Lightning killed six cows and six calves 13 miles west-southwest of Rustburg.
