Severe thunderstorms developed in eastern Oklahoma during the afternoon of August 19th. Strong thunderstorm winds in Garvin blew the roofs off several homes and also damaged antennas. Numerous trees, power lines, and power poles were also blown down in Garvin. A well house was blown down by 60 mph winds in Quinton, and strong thunderstorm winds tore a carport from a house five miles south of Muskogee. Several large tree limbs were blown down four miles south of Welling and one mile northwest of Webbers Falls. A pilot at Muskogee Davis Field Airport six miles south of Muskogee observed 50 to 60 knot (58 to 69 mile an hour) wind gusts, and thunderstorm winds gusted to 60 mph five miles north of Eufaula. Dime-size hail fell five miles east of Wilburton, at Vian, 5 miles north of Eufaula, and at Okemah.
