A funnel cloud developed over Kinkaid Lake near the junction of Illinois Highways 3 and 149. It was witnessed by dozens of people at the popular recreation area, including several police officers. Videotape of the funnel cloud was televised by a local television station. The very narrow, rope-like funnel briefly touched down in a forest. No damage was reported. The funnel developed in association with a very rapidly intensifying thunderstorm. The funnel dissipated after the storm cell reached the mature stage.
