In Hampton Township a house under construction collapsed because of high winds. Damaging wind gusts knocked down trees and power lines in scattered pockets of southeast Sussex County. Stillwater was one of the hardest hit areas with many uprooted trees.

A squall line moving across the region produced an enormous amount of damage during the afternoon hours. Powerful winds, the result of several microbursts, downed thousands of trees and power lines. Numerous structures received various degrees of damage. A significant amount of this damage occurred to the roofs.

A large sign was blown onto the express lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike at mile marker 77. The sign did not hit any moving vehicles, but caused flat tires as vehicles drove over it.
