Severe thunderstorms formed ahead of a cold front which swept east from the eastern Great Lakes resulting in damaging thunderstorm winds and large hail across parts of the state. Hail up to Ping-Pong ball-size fell at Bennington, North Bennington, and Shaftsbury. Large trees and powerlines were downed by thunderstorm winds in Bennington, North Bennington and Shaftsbury. In Bennington a large tree fell on the roof of a porch and totaled a parked car. In Shaftsbury the top of a farm silo was torn off and a pickup truck was moved 30 feet by thunderstorm winds. Trees were also downed in Caledonia and Essex Counties.
