A line of thunderstorms moved through the area causing a great deal of damage from winds. Powerlines, trees, aircraft hangers, and aircraft were damaged in the Hartley/Moore County region. As the storms moved through Amarillo a peak wind gust of 68 mph was recorded at the National Weather Service. East of the weather office Texas State Technical College received $300-400K damage to the roofs on campus. A man building a fireworks stand was killed south of Amarillo when the stand blow over onto him. (M51O)
