Severe thunderstorms scattered over northwestern South Carolina during the afternoon and early evening caused wind damage in several areas. Wind speed was estimated 60 mph in Chester. This problem was exaberated by the wet ground. A lightning-set fire consumed a home in McCormick County. Rather severe flash flooding occurred in Greenwood and Abbeville Counties where several inches of rain fell in a short time. Several bridges were under water and a number.
