A microburst likely caused 20 to 30 trees to be snapped off. Some fell onto a house and a truck. Most of the damage occurred along a swath one-half mile long by one to two blocks wide in the Village of Greenville, which is part of Smithfield. Up to 7,500 electric customers lost power in the area. Some residents claimed that they may have seen a funnel cloud.
