A backdoor cold front moved south from the Saint Lawrence Valley during the morning of July 6th resulting in severe thunderstorms across southern parts of eastern New York during the afternoon. Thunderstorm winds downed trees and powerlines with the most significant damage occurring when a tree fell on a house at Hartwick Seminary.
