Several power lines were reported down in the Greenwich area and about 2500 electric customers lost power. Numerous large tree branches were blown down in Monroe. Up to 30,000 electric utility customers statewide lost power for a brief time. There were 9000 outages in Guilford and 1000 outages in Branford after lightning struck a 27,000 volt line.

Numerous trees were knocked down at their bases intermittently along an easterly track one mile long and 200 yards wide. Along the north flank, trees were snapped off half-way up and some were twisted. National Weather Service investigation determined that an eastward moving microburst was accompanied by a weak tornado that touched down intermittently along its northern flank. The twisted trees displayed evidence of convergence toward a central track. A small gazebo was damaged, but otherwise there was no property damage to houses observed.

The National Weather Service confirmed that five large trees were knocked over along Routes 10 and 202 in Simsbury. In Bloomfield, more than a half dozen streets were blocked by fallen trees and wires. A tree limb fell onto an auto, breaking the windshield and back window. The driver was not injured.
