The Tybee Island lifeguards and Tybee Island Fire Department reported numerous rip currents being observed along the beach from 11 AM to 8 PM. There were 2 near-drownings and 24 additional rip current related rescues. The two near-drownings occurred along the beach close to the intersection of 8th street and Bulter Avenue on Tybee Island. The Tybee Ocean Rescue Squad pulled both victims from the water and transported them to Memorial Medical Center.
