August 19, 1956, 08:44:33 local time, Northeast of Pingdlng, Shanxi Province, 37.8 N, 114 E, magnitude 5, intensity VII.

In and around Qimlng and Yaolao villages, northeast of the city, more than 10 rooms and 7 cave dwellings collapsed, over 360 rooms (95%) and more than 210 cave dwellings (95%) were damaged seriously, and the rest were also cracked. Mountain slopes slid down and fissured.

Heshun: 20 rooms in Caoping Village collapsed and a section of ground fissured.

Jingxing: 46 rooms in Hetaoyuan Village collapsed.

More than 80% houses were cracked. Plaster in the walls of houses in the county seat were fissured.

The shock was felt at Huolu.
