November 24, 1907 Earthquake: Camarines, SE Luzon, Philippines

On Nov 24, 1907 21:59 local time [Nov 24 13:59 UTC] in the Camarines Province a destructive earthquake (intensity IX) which ruined nearly all the masonry buildings of the towns within an area of some 80 km in length and 20 in width. Within this small region, composed of recent alluvial soil and traversed by the Quinali River, a great number of fissures opened and various subsidences took place. (reference #1072)

On Nov 24, 1907 at 21:59 and 22:11 local time an earthquake occurred in Ambos, Camarines of intensity IX. The mesoseismal area of this earthquake comprised only the southeastern most part of the region. It was followed by a second shock of intensity V or VI and by numerous small ones during the night until the next day. The towns that suffered most are those to the south of Iriga Volcano and along the Qunali River. Within this area nearly all the stone buildings which successfully withstood the earthquakes during April 14 of the current year fell to the ground; many fissures opened in the ground and huge landslides occurred on the mountain sides.
