1830, September 16. There were several strong shocks at Manila during a colla or a typhoon. The river left its banks and some of the suburbs of the capital were flooded (Perrey, 1860 b; Maso, 1926; Repetti, 1946).

1830 September 16. Manila. Perrey reports this from Laplace, Voyage de la Favorite, t. I, p. 420: "At Manila, several strong shocks during a colla, or typhoon. The river overflowed, and part of the suburbs was flooded." AP, p. 180. The flooding would be a natural concomitant of a typhoon. A colla is a sudden, strong SW squall, not a typhoon proper.
