This may be a duplicate reporting of an event one year earlier, November 30, 1823. Heck (Reference #132) cited the 1824 information from Mallet, but gave it a date of 1823.
Description from Reference #1879 is almost identical to description of November 30, 1823 event: "30 November 1824. Island of Martinique, West Indies. A severe shock. At St. Pierre a very high tide threw many ships upon the strand. Accompanied by subterranean noise which appeared at first, however, to proceed from the atmosphere. The earthquake was preceded by great heat, which ceased after the shock and heavy rain began, which lasted for ten days."
