1672. Most of the Grecian Islnds, especially Santorin and Stanichio. Intensity II which corresponds to buildings may be unroofed or shattered and some may fall, the ground may be badly cracked in places and small landslips occur. (reference #1055)
1672. Most of the Grecian Islands, especially Santorin and Stanichio. Very violent. The island of Stanichio, 70 miles in circumference is said to have been swallowed up with all its inhabitants. (reference #521)
1673, March. An earthquake of unknown effects, was reported from the island of Cow. This is probably the event that gave rise to the fable about the island of Stanchio being swallowed up with all its inhabitants during historical times. (reference #9116)
1672. Santorini was terrible shock. All Cyclades was shaken. The island Stainchio of 70,000 in circumference, was engulfed with all its inhabitants. A few months later, in March or April 1673, violent earthquake Stanchio the island, a few buildings disappeared in the sea. (reference #1093)
