rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches
are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already
occurring. There were several reports of flash flooding this past
afternoon, including most recently, fast moving water over Skyberry
Hill Road near the intersection Jenkinjones Road near Anawalt, from
the Tug Fork.

The heavy rain has ended. Flood waters have receded. Flooding is no
longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed any
remaining road closures.
The Flash Flood Warning for central and southwestern portions of
McDowell County has been replaced with a Flood Warning there.
A Flood Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT Sunday for portions
of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, southwest Virginia, and West
Virginia.

KEY MESSAGE 1...
A front sinks southward through the area this weekend while a low
wanders out of the Central Plains and into the Southeastern US. More
showers and thunderstorms are expected to traverse the area ahead of
and along the front today, with continued potential for localized
flash flooding to occur in heavy downpours. Poor drainage areas and
locations that recently received heavy rain will be the most
susceptible to flooding today. No changes have been made to the
Flood Watch, which remains in effect for the bulk of the area until
Sunday morning. In addition to flooding, a few stronger storms
could produce gusty winds.
While precipitation coverage should lessen behind the front
overnight, lingering moisture is expected to support some renewed
activity, primarily in the afternoon and evening hours, early next
week.
KEY MESSAGE 2...
Drier weather briefly takes hold Tuesday into Wednesday amid a
warming trend, then another system brings increased
precipitation chances for the end of next week. That being
said, the details remain a bit murky as to the timing of this
potential system.

A variety of flight conditions will be possible throughout the
TAF period, with periodic restrictions occurring in showers and

At 847 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 7 miles east of Dunlow to near Holden. Movement
was east at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Logan, Chapmanville, Man, Holden, Mallory, Chief Logan State Park,
